The Darkness/Pitt #1 - Free!

I missed this last week but over at The Furnace Damian has news that following the sell-out (at the distributor) success of the first issue of The Darkness/Pitt the publishers have made the book available for free from Comixology's comic library application on the iPhone. For those of us without an iPhone the issue is also available in full on the Comixology website.

Eric Basaldua and Dale Keown's classic hero Pitt makes his return to comics! What else do you need to know? When Tim and Pitt's mission to track down those infected by an alien virus brings them to Jackie's stomping ground in New York, they are invariably drawn together. Both attract the unwanted attention of the Federal Government and mayhem ensues!

The crossover reunites The Darkness writer Paul Jenkins (Captain America, Mythos) and Pitt creator Dale Keown (Hulk: The End) and features two covers by series artist Keown and a variant cover by Eric Basaldua (Witchblade Annual).

This title fell into my ever-growing 'wait for the trade' category when it was first solicited but having now seen the pages online I think I'll pick up the single issues instead - issue #2 of this 3 part series is published at the end of the month with the final installment due at the end of October.

The iPhone seems a little out of my budget unfortunately but I have been thinking about picking up an iTouch at some point soon: I'd be interested to hear (email me or click on the comments link) your thoughts and experiences if you've used the Comixology library/reader.
