The Return of Bruce Wayne #6 Variant

Lee Garbett has been busy over the weekend sharing some of his current projects via his blog.

First up readers were treated to the pencils for his variant cover for The Return of Bruce Wayne #6 which will be inked and coloured by Bill Sienkiewicz.

Very nice isn't it? I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the final cover.

In addition to artwork for the CD cover of Giggs' first single from the "Let Em 'Ave It" album Mr Garbett posted a panel from a Halloween story he's drawing that features Batman - Dick Grayson - and Robin - Damian Wayne.

Finally, at New York Comic Con this weekend details of two signing sessions at the DC booth - Saturday 9 October at 1pm and Sunday 10 October at 1.30pm: both sessions run for an hour.

As I've said before I've been loving Lee Garbett's work on Batgirl over the past year and I'm looking forward to following his work on his future projects.

Batman News from The Source

News from DCs The Source announcing the artists that will be contributing to the Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne series coming later this summer:

issue #1, Chris Sprouse;
issue #2, Frazer Irving
issue #3, Yanick Paquette;
issue #4, Cameron Stewart
issue #5, Ryan Sook;
issue #6, Lee Garbett

I was already looking forward to this series and now I really can't wait ... what a great line-up. I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Lee Garbett's work on this title: I enjoyed his run on The Outsiders and of course I'm a big fan of his art in his current run on Batgirl.

The same announcement revealed that Frazer Irving will also be taking over artistic duties on Batman and Robin when Andy Clarke’s stint on the series comes to an end - Irving previously worked with Batman and Robin writer Grant Morrison on the Klarion The Witch Boy mini-series - as well as posting the variant cover for issue #2 of Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne.

Preview of First Covers for The Return of Bruce Wayne

DC have released previews of Andy Kubert's covers for the first and second issues of Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne.

Alongside the preview images The Source featured comments from Batman editor Michael Marts:

“In these first two covers for Return of Bruce Wayne, artist Andy Kubert gives readers an exclusive glimpse into the mysterious realms that Grant Morrison has imagined for Return of Bruce Wayne. Intrigued? And guess what — this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg!”

One, Two, Three Reveals for Bat-Books

Wednesday was a real bonus day for Bat-fans over at DC's The Source - not one, not two, but three superb preview images from forthcoming books. Click on the images to enlarge them.

First up, Andy Kubert's (uncoloured) cover for
Batman: The Return of Bruce Wayne #1.

The six part mini-series, arriving in April, looks very interesting to say the least - click here for more information and sketches.

Next up was a double-page spread from
Detective Comics #861 from Jock. Written by Greg Rucka, the issue will be in stores at the end of January.

Very nice indeed.

If these reveals weren't enough there was news that writer Gail Simone and artist Ed Benes will reunite to launch a new series of
Birds of Prey.

The preview of Benes's art looks amazing and Simone has some exciting plans for the book that she talks about over at AOL Comics Alliance.

CBR also had some preview pages from Batgirl #6 on Tuesday this week but I'm avoiding those until I've read the issue!
