Comic Book Resources and publisher Top Cow have released a number of preview pages from The Darkness: Shadows and Flame, which is released next Wednesday, and judging by these pages I'm looking forward to picking it up - it looks as good as it sounded which I first read about the book and posted about it back at the start of December last year.
The book tells the story of a man who is a shadow of his former self. Set in New England in 1897, Salvador Gomes finds his life at a cross-roads following the tragic death of both his wife and his daughter. Alone, with only his thoughts and fears to keep him company, Gomes discovers what he calls The Shadow God and tries to bargain with him – no matter what the price.
I'm really taken with the Jorge Lucas's art throughout these preview pages - there's real depth to his work and the colouring is superb - and we get a tantalising preview of what looks like an intriguing story from Rob Levin.
Top Cow have earned a reputation for producing some great one-shots in recent times and this book looks no exception.
