Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast - Episode #20
One of my favourite podcasts - Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast - has a new episode available for download
In this latest, review-only, episode our host Stella delves into the archives when she reviews Detective Comics #418 and #419, and then takes a look at a couple of recent releases in Batgirl #19, and Birds of Prey #10.
Stella then continues with the enjoyable 'Babs in the Tube' segment, as usual gives her literature recommendation, and plays two new candidates for Stephanie Brown's theme song on Zaius's Radio Hour.
Download the episode from iTunes or listen to it directly from the Batgirl to Oracle website.

Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast - Episode 14
Today's birthday girl Stella returns with the another hugely enjoyable episode of Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast.
In this episode listeners are treated to Stella's thoughts on the consequences of the forthcoming Birds of Prey 'Death of Oracle' story-arc; whose acceptance of Barbara's superhero identity meant more - Batman or Black Canary; and whether having two Batgirls appearing across the Bat-family books would be a good idea.
The review section of the podcast features commentary on Detective Comics #408 and #409, Bruce Wayne The Road Home: Batgirl and Bruce Wayne The Road Home: Oracle.
BtO correspondent Kimberley Rockmore delivers a heart-felt public service announcement - who knew there were so many syllables in 'irrevocably'? - and as always, the podcast concludes with a literature recommendation, a DVD recommendation and a podcast recommendation.
Interjected between these features our host talks all too briefly about her prowess in the table-tennis arena and teases a little surprise for BtO's first birthday next month.

New Episodes of Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast
Despite her hectic schedule at the moment Stella - host of Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast - has been busy recording and publishing two episodes of the show in short succession.
In the twelfth episode, Stella talks a little about her new teaching job, gives her thoughts on whether Barbara and Peter Parker would work as a couple, and shares some very exciting news about Batgirl: Year One! Our host then launches into the review section of the episode looking at Detective Comics #404 and #405, Batgirl #13, and Birds of Prey #4, and wraps up with her literature recommendation for the month.
The most recent episode, episode thirteen, sees Stella once again joined by Kimberley Rockmore - live from the Watchtower Newsdesk - as they cover Batman/Superman: Apocalypse, Batgirl: Year One the Motion Comic as well as some small screen news. The regular review section looks at Detective Comics #406 and #407, Batgirl #14, and Birds of Prey #5. As always Stella leaves us with her literature recommendation, before Thomas Matis pops on at the end for a few words on Batgirl #14.
Head over to Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast website for more details, to download the podcast or to join in with the community of fans at the Message Board.

Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast - Episode 11
Having been shamefully sent to Coventry (Wikipedia-linked for our overseas readers!) for the last couple of episodes BtO Special Correspondent Kimberley Rockmore makes a triumphant return, accompanied by co-host Stella, for another hugely enjoyable episode of Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast.
In this episode Kimberley reports at length on the news from the BtO watchtower while elsewhere in the show Stella answers questions as diverse as 'what does she think about the Batgirl from 'The Batman' series?', 'in what areas does Stephanie Brown need growth?', and 'what are her favourite Batgirl moments?'.
Later in the podcast Stella reviews Detective Comics #400 and #401, Batgirl #12 along with Birds of Prey #3 before wrapping up with her customary literary recommendation in which she surprisingly overlooks the latest Tom Clancy thriller in favour of a more traditional selection.
It's good to have you back Kimberley (and Stella of course). If you're new to Batgirl to Oracle I'd like to point you in the direction of a very special episode - show number 10 - in which Stella talks at great length with current Batgirl writer Bryan Q. Miller.
During their conversation Mr Miller talks with Stella about working with artist Lee Garbett, Batgirl's supporting cast including the villains, Stephanie Brown working with other heroes, and even briefly discusses Cassandra Cain.
The show concludes as Mr Miller very kindly answers listeners questions.

Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast - Episode 7
Stella returns - along with a special guest - for episode #7 of Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast.
During the 80 minute show our ever-vivacious host answers questions from listeners - including 'Who is Barbara Gordon's arch-nemesis?' and 'When will she (Babs) stop being a hero?', re-announces the 'Make an Intro' contest and promotes the petition to get the Batgirl: Year One DTV back into production.
In an extensive review section Stella gives us her thoughts on Adventure Comics #381, Detective Comics #388, Detective Comics #389, Batgirl #9 and #10, and she reviews The Brave and the Bold #33 with special guest Kevin Cushing.
The episode rounds off with a literature recommendation and a little pimping.
Listen to the show via iTunes, the Batgirl to Oracle blog and message board.
More information about the Batgirl to Oracle campaign to get the Batgirl: Year One DTV back into production can also be found at the blog and the message board while you can add your name to the petition itself by clicking on this link.
Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast: always a favourite listen.
Incidentally, did you know that an accepted plural of nemisis is nemisi? No, neither did I.

Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast - Episode 6
Our effervescent host Stella returns with the latest episode the Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast - and despite countless challenges from the technical gremlins this episode was one of the most enjoyable yet in my opinion yet.
With Kimberley Rockmore away on a special assignment Stella flys solo in bringing us reviews of books old and new - World's Finest Comics #176, Detective Comics #384, Detective Comics #385, Batgirl #8, and Red Robin #10 - answer questions from listeners, gives her thoughts on the prospects of a certain actress playing Barbara Gordon on film (and I paraphrase: 'please, never, ever') and concludes with news of a great contest for listeners.
All that, plus a song and a dance - I kid you not.
Listen to the show via iTunes, the Batgirl to Oracle blog and message board - don't tell me you're not just a little bit curious now!

Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Message Board
If you haven't yet listened to the latest episode of the Batgirl to Oracle podcast then I'd like to point you in the direction of the shows blog where our host Stella has revealed ... Batgirl to Oracle: The Message Board.
Over recent weeks a number of friends of the show have been beta-testing the message board and feeding back comments and suggestions to Stella and fellow administrator and friend Noctis. As a result, friends of the show old and new now have a fantastic forum to discuss their thoughts on all things Batgirl ... and beyond.
There are boards to discuss the latest episode of the podcast, reviews and discussion around the current Batgirl Stephanie Brown as well as Babs role in comics including her role as Oracle, there's a place for TV and film chat, fan-art and fan-fiction ... there's even an 'everything else' section if you just want to talk about something close to your heart (and I'm particularly looking forward to the Pro Road Cycling thread!).
On a personal note, I'm feel very proud to have been asked to contribute my regular Batgirl reviews to the site, as well as reviews of the forthcoming return of the Birds of Prey series.
The board has only been 'open for business' a short time and already a really nice community of fans has gathered and every new member is made welcome.
Stop by the Batgirl to Oracle message board, sign-up and join in.

Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast - Episode 5
One of my favourite and 'most-looked-forward-to' podcasts returns with Episode 5 of Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast.
In this episode our host Stella is joined for a news update by BtO Watchtower correspondent Kimberley Rockmore - who, judging by her accent, was born in Delhi, university educated at Oxford and has spent most of her adult life working in Johannesburg! - discusses the latest Batgirl news, including some collectibles that are soon to be released. Stella also talks about what topics she would like Gail Simone to tackle in the forthcoming relaunch of Birds of Prey, and who exactly IS Barbara's arch-nemesis?
Also in this hour-long episode she reviews Detective Comics #371, Justice League of America #60, Brave and the Bold #78, and the more recently released Batgirl #7.
The episode closes with Stella's literature recommendation, the unveiling of the Batgirl to Oracle: The Message Board, and a special guest appearance by Bubba Moose, who performs a birthday rap that has to be heard to be believed - quite extraordinary!
Really entertaining, really informative - Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast.

New Episodes of Batgirl to Oracle and The Wolverine Berserker Podcasts
A couple of my favourite podcasts recently released their latest episodes:Stella returns with episode 4 of Batgirl to Oracle: The Barbara Gordon Podcast, during which she answers numerous questions that have been submitted by listeners and discusses, along with special guest Kevin Cushing, the nine issue mini-series Batgirl: Year One, touching on the heavy foreshadowing, Barbara's relationship with Dick Grayson, Marcos Martin's ingenious art, and how old Babs is.
At the close of her longest episode yet - over 2 hours - Stella leaves us with her literary recommendation as well as a little tease!
Having only recently reread Batgirl: Year One I found this feature particularly interesting - Stella and Kevin raised some interesting points that I hadn't previously considered and pointed out one or two little 'Easter Eggs' that had previously passed me by.Over at The Wolverine Berserker Podcast Josh explores the latest Wolverine news, reviews Wolverine Punisher Volume 1, Matsuo Tsurayaba is featured in the Character Bio (one of my favourite features in the show) and this episodes classic Wolverine issue is Wolverine Volume 2, #10. Josh also reveals a new segment for the show where he'll cover all the trade paperbacks from the start of Wolverine Vol.3 up until present day.
Thanks to Josh's podcast I'm rediscovering Wolverine through his reviews and character bios and I'm even starting to pick up some of the books again.
Both shows are highly recommended and unmissable!

The Wolverine Berserker Podcast - #2
Josh is back with episode #2 of The Wolverine Berserker Podcast. In this episode we take a look back at the first episode, reviews comics from the past two weeks and look ahead to the next few months of crazy crossovers and tie-ins. Tyger Tiger is the featured character and Uncanny X-Men #268 is the classic issue.
Visit the Wolverine Berserker blog to download each of the first two episodes - both really good listens: I really enjoyed the current issue reviews, the featured character and the classic Wolverine review.
Highly recommended.

Our host Stella returns with the second episode of The Barbara Gordon podcast. In this episode Stella reviews Detective Comics #363 'The True-False Face of Batman', World's Finest Comics #169 'The Supergirl-Batgirl Plot', and the recent Batgirl issues #2 and #3, as well as answering a few questions and giving her literary recommendation.
I picked-up a copy of DC's Showcase Presents Batgirl recently and I'm really enjoying reading these old back issues as they are discussed on the podcast.

Batgirl to Oracle: the Barbara Gordon Podcast
Following on with the Batgirl theme, over the weekend I was pleased to see a new podcast downloading when I opened my iTunes: Batgirl to Oracle: the Barbara Gordon Podcast.
The show is hosted by Stella, who some of us will know from the Spider-man Crawl Space podcast and website, where she is a co-host and moderator.
In this first 25-minute episode our host introduces herself, tackles the question 'why Barbara?', highlights her expectations for the show, talks about some Batgirl news before reviewing Detective Comics #359 and the recently relaunched Batgirl #1. The plan is to release an episode every month, or more frequently as time and circumstances allow.
With the feel of a prequel or 'zero issue' this episode has really whetted my appetite for forthcoming programmes and I'm looking forward to finding out more about Barbara Gordon and Batgirl.
I’ve added the Batgirl to Oracle blog to the Escape From Tomorrow Blog List of recommended sites (right) and from here you can listen to the podcast or subscribe directly through iTunes.
One to follow - recommended.

Collected Comics Library at the Movies
Regular visitors to Escape From Tomorrow will know that one of my favourite podcasts and blogs is The Collective Comics Library hosted by Chris Marshall.
The Collected Comics Library is THE Comic Book and Trade Paperback Podcast - the only podcast solely dedicated to news, information and reviews on all sorts of comic book collected editions.
This weeks show - episode number 236! - takes the form of a summer 2009 film and collected editions tie-in retrospective and over the course of 30 minutes or so Chris talks about film-related collected editions including Watchmen, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Terminator: Salvation, Star Trek, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Whiteout, The Surrogates and others including animated films such as Coraline, Green Lantern: First Flight and Astro Boy.
Also included in this episode is the regular look at the weeks new releases.
Always an enjoyable and entertaining listen, check out the Collected Comics Library.

Kryptographik: 'Dekrypting Graphik Kulture'
About a year ago I started listening to a podcast called Kryptographik, which very quickly became a 'must listen' for me featuring, as it did, news, reviews, commentary and interviews about horror, dark fantasy and science-fiction across a variety of different media: television, film, comics, novels, websites ... you name it.
Having settled into a routine of two episodes a month the shows regrettably stopped in October 2008 as the hosts - Damian (based in Australia) and Brian (in the US) - explained that because of work and family commitments they would be taking a break.
Therefore it was a nice surprise a couple of weeks ago when my iTunes podcast-feed started to download a new episode of the show.
The podcast is accompanied by a website - http://www.lordshaper.com/kryptographik/ - that has a well informed, busy forum; recommended reading via the Kryptographik Bookstore; along with links to other sites and podcasts that will be of interest.
I enjoy the hosts approach to the show: they speak knowledgeably and enthusiastically about their subjects, their style is laid-back and light-hearted. The two men have a good rapport with one another and, if I didn't know otherwise, I'd be sure they were sat together in a room.
If you're not already, this would be a good point to start following Kryptographik.
Episode 28 could be considered the 'relaunch' epsiode as the hosts tell us a bit about themselves, what they've been up to since last August and talk about indie films, writing projects for fangoria.com and heroescorner.com, what they picked up on Free Comic Book Day as well as some recommended upcoming comic releases.
Episode 29 - released on Monday this week - focuses largely on new and forthcoming film releases: Transformers 2, Public Enemies, Moon, The Final Destination, Terminator: Salvation, Drag Me To Hell, Halloween 2, Pandorum, The Surrogates, Inglorious Bastards, Tim Burton's 9, Sherlock Holmes, The Road, Sorority Row, Whiteout and Zombieland.
The shows can be streamed or downloaded directly from the website or through iTunes.
Welcome back Kryptographik.
